Improving Quality of Life With Pet Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is an innovative medical technology that has a long history in human medicine. Only recently though, has it been made widely available to veterinary clinics. At Kindness Animal Hospital, we’re pleased to be able to offer laser therapy for dogs and cats of Cape Coral.
What is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy involves a low-level laser light, sometimes called cold laser therapy, which we apply to the surface of your pet’s affected area. The laser light reaches deep into the damaged tissue and stimulates cell production. It is entirely non-invasive and pain-free. In fact, the laser light is instrumental in reducing pain and inflammation, minimizing swelling, and speeding up healing.
Conditions Treated by Laser Therapy
Laser therapy for dogs and cats helps relieve the pain and discomfort of numerous conditions including:
- Acute or chronic injuries
- Intervertebral disc disease
- Muscle sprains and strains
- Edema (swelling) and inflammation
- Wound healing
- Lick granulomas and other skin conditions
What to Expect with Treatments
A typical treatment will last between 10 and 20 minutes. Pets are generally very receptive to the cold laser—no sedation is necessary. Results or changes in behavior are not always immediately apparent following treatment. Pet laser therapy is cumulative, meaning following sessions build upon one another to create a more lasting effect. Depending on your pet’s condition, they may require only one or two sessions, while others will require long-term care.
If you think your pet would benefit from laser therapy, please contact us to talk about their options. We’ll be happy to get your pet on the path to a better quality of life!
